Stylized Figure Scaling in Adobe Illustrator CC

Hello Everyone,

Have you tried to draw a scaled stylized figure by hand in your fashion drawing class? It is quite a difficult exercise. First, you draw a stylized figure and then draw the same figure in a smaller size.

Scaling figure by hand

Let’s find out how we can scale a fashion sketch in Adobe Illustrator CC.

1. Draw a fashion sketch in Adobe Illustrator and select it with the Selection tool.

2. Right click and choose the Transform > Scale command. Select the Uniform radio button and enter a percentage value into the Uniform field in the Scale dialog box. The percentage can be 50, 40, or 30%, depending on how much you want to reduce the stylized figure. Click on the Copy button in the Scale dialog box. A scaled copy of the fashion figure will appear immediately!

3. We can do even more in one click! Place both copies of the fashion figure on some distance and select them with the Selection tool. Choose the Object > Blend > Blend Options command. Choose the Specified Steps option and enter the desired number of steps in the Blend Options dialog box (number of figure copies in this case).

4. Choose the Object > Blend > Make command. 5 figure copies of various sizes will appear between the bigger and the smaller figure.
